The founder and leader of the Anointed Palace Chapel, Reverend Obofour, has explained why he allows Shatta Wale's songs to be played in his church despite the fact that such songs are tagged as secular or non-Christian.
According to Obofuor, Shatta Wale was born of a woman and just like any other person, if he (Shatta) does good music, he will play it. Obofuor, noted for his many antics in his church, has often been criticised for the constant use of secular music including songs from Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene, and many others, during his church services.
In what could be described as a direct response to the many people who hold views against the playing of such songs in church, Obofuorr told off the critics pointing out that many of the so-called gospel musicians even do worse things than one could imagine.
Speaking in a video in which he appeared on his pulpit with Shatta Wale's Freedom hit track playing at the background, Obofuor stated: 'when Shatta Wale does good music and we play it in church [people complain].
Was Shatta Wale not born of a woman, was he not carried for nine months? Get away! Go and see how adulterous the supposed gospel musician is.'
Obofuor's explanation comes at a time when a video of a church playing Stonebwoy's Kpo Keke song to the excitement of congregants has been trending online and causing a lot of debate.
Known to be a controversial and flamboyant character, Obofour has become very popular for his unorthodox ways of doing things in his church. In recent times, he has forged a bond with Shatta Wale who is also known to be a very controversial person. Shatta Wale was one of the first people to visit Obofuor's recently bought $1.4 million Trassaco mansion.
