Why Ghanaian Brands are failing on Social Media
A new era is born, and technology is thriving. Birthing many children and it's most popular; Social media, being King. Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, just to name a few.
In order to take advantage of this emerging technology, brands have taken to social media platforms to promote brand awareness as well as offer product sales and services.
This is Great, but it's sad to see some brands turning their social media accounts into comic relief rather than
converting followers into potential costumers.
Well some who seek to succeed on such platforms sometimes seek the help of other social media users.
There's a new category, "Social media influencer". Who is this? you may ask. It's simply a person with a large following and engagement who posses some "power/influence" over other social media users.
Around the world, these "Social media influencers" are making big money. From endorsement deals to pay-per-post, they are really making big money.
But some brands are loosing out. Why? Simply because they work with just any "Social Media Influencer"
Let me explain, for instance, A brand known for technology (mobile phones, laptops) shouldn't seek influencers in a fashion industry.
Why? Yes your product might reach a larger audience but you won't receive any sales simply because the fashion person would paint a pretty picture but fellow users won't know why they should purchase your device.
Yes, you would instruct the fashion influencer on what to post but it will 100% be best to hire a Tech Influencer who has a better understanding of the product and can probably explore and give a convincing feedback.
In a nutshell all I'm simply saying is brands should hire at least 80% influencers they work with from their exact industries. Do this, watch your business sales/services grow. Social media is a tool, at least for brands, not for fun.
